Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown With defending champion Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team advanced to their first World Series since the 1993 season by defeating the Mariners in the final seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Down by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 win in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, who are the current crown, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, our city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."
George Springer has now connected for twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation besides Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.
Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" after his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their performance throughout the year.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays claimed the championship on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
