The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear in the new Hunger Games instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
An Important Comeback for the Franchise
The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their cameos will likely occur in a future-set scene, considering the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth installment in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several notable actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
Current Projects and Release Timeline
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
