Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and it needs to change.”
