Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.
Pereira was sacked on the weekend following the team's ten-game without a victory start to the top-flight season.
And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the club - are among the options to be evaluated by the club leadership.
Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a possible obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.
Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong candidate for the position.
The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.
Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was released by the club in December last year.
The ex- West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
