Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
